The Integrated Breeding Platform (IBP) of the CGIAR Generation Challenge Programme (GCP) provides information, analytical tools and related services to plant breeders to design and conduct modern breeding programs.  The IBP is being developed in collaboration with 14 breeding projects for eight crops in 32 developing countries.

The IBP is accessed via a user friendly Integrated Breeding Portal which provides access to the Crop Information, Breeding Services, tools and online space for the development and support of crop-based communities of practice and to the Integrated Breeding Workflow System.

The IB Workflow System comprises database modules for managing local, project germplasm, phenotype, and genotype data integrated with public information for each crop. The key application is the Integrated Breeding Workbench which provides user authentication services, project management and configuration, and manages user roles. Each tool provides some needed functionality in terms of data querying, breeding logistics, data management, analysis and decision support and can be customized in ways which suit individual breeding projects.

The tools of the first version of IB Workflow System comprise tools for querying germplasm, phenotype and genotype data. The Breeding Manager supports the logistics of population development and characterization including pedigree recording. The IB Fieldbook supports logistics and data management for germplasm evaluation. The Breeding View offers state-of-the-art statistical procedures as easy to use analysis workflows, and decision support tools help with decisions for MAS, MABC and MARS breeding projects.
