Applying Next-Gen Sequencing To Non-Model Animals: Resequencing and Transcriptomics

I will talk about our experience in applying mRNAseq and resequencing to chick and other organisms, including both opportunities and limitations of Illumina short-read data.  A major conclusion of our work is that approaches designed for model organisms need to be adapted for use in agricultural and non-model organisms.
