Galaxy is an analysis and data integration framework for accessible, reproducible, and transparent biomedical research. Available as a free public Web resource (http://usegalaxy.org/) or an open-source software package installed locally (http://bitbucket.org/galaxy/galaxy-dist) or on a compute cloud such as Amazon (http://usegalaxy.org/cloud), Galaxy enables researchers from diverse computational backgrounds equal access to complex bioinformatics pipelines. The ability to tune tool and data parameters, design and execute Workflows through a web interface, and annotate, share, and publish data Sources and exact analysis Methods as well as Visualizations have made the Galaxy platform a popular experimental design, execution, and collaboration choice. Data sources UCSC, BioMart, InterMine, EBI SRA, WormBase, GenomeSpace (plus others) are directly supported along with user-uploaded or linked data. New analysis tools are continually added to the Tool Shed (http://toolshed.g2.bx.psu.edu/), increasing the breadth of scientific inquiry available in both public and private Galaxies. With a strong focus on data and tool versioning, job history tracking, and custom Pages and Sharing options, using Galaxy for publication support has never been simpler.
This talk will discuss what's new since last year and look forwardin the areas of:
1. Data & Tools - Data Sources, Variation Analysis, RNA-Seq, and Others
2. UI & Visualizations - General UI, Trackster, Circster, and Scatterplot
3. Development & Technical - Cloud, API, Framework, Tool Shed, and Community
