During the last years the rapid advancements in plant genotyping and precise phenotyping have been integrated into a remarkable set of tools that again revolutionize plant breeding, The Green Gene Revolution that KeyGene promoted is becoming reality. Sequence-based genotyping is now complemented with molecular mutagenesis and high throughput phenotyping to create and follow new variation that will help create new varieties with higher performance in yield and product quality. These developments and the discovery of new trait genes clearly respond the to increasing needs of our society to meet the current and future demands for high quality food, feed fiber, fuel, flowers and fun agricultural products.
In this workshop entitled “Integrated Genomics and Phenomics for breakthrough Traits” we will highlight some of the great achievements of the last year in trait research at KeyGene and in the labs of our colleagues.
