transPLANT is a consortium of 11 European partners gathered to address the challenges of complex plant genome data integration and to develop a trans-national infrastructure for plant genomic science. The project aims to establish and strengthen interconnections between plant genome data resources as well as to develop new platforms, common standards and tools to assist plant research.

In this computer demonstration we will introduce the official transPLANT web hub (http://transplantdb.eu/) where partner resources are registered and cross-linked. Advanced search interfaces allow users to query distributed plant genome resources and make use of transPLANT services and tools.

We will also briefly introduce genome data resources and tools hosted by transPLANT partners for the complex triticeae genomes of wheat and barley as much data was generated here lately.

MIPS PlantsDB (http://mips.helmholtz-muenchen.de/plant/genomes.jsp) is a genome database system for data retrieval, management and comparative genomics in plants. “Genome Zipper” results were incorporated for barley and wheat as well as all data generated from bread wheat sequencing in the UK. A synteny browser (CrowsNest) facilitates the identification of conserved regions between model and crop genomes.

INRA URGI GnpIS (http://urgi.versailles.inra.fr/gnpis): The GnpIS portal project (Genetic and Genomic Information System) is a tool aiming to provide simple and fast access to the data located in all URGI databases.

EBI Ensembl Plants: Ensembl Plants (http://plants.ensembl.org) is an integrating portal for data from plant genomes, offering access to many data types, including user supplied datasets, through a standard set of interfaces. The barley genome, annotation, and variation data is represented in Ensembl Plants as well as the genomes of bread wheat and two of its progenitors (Triticum urartu and Aegilops tauschii).
