Medicago truncatula is utilized widely as a model plant, with rich genetic resources including a nearly-complete genome available to the research community. Our collaborative project aims to generate tools for phenotypic analysis in this plant system and to make these freely accessable to the scientific community. Specifically, we are identifying and characterizing a series of mutant plants lines and bulking seeds for future studies. Further, we are generating a set of constructs and plant lines encoding marker proteins to facilitate biochemical and cell biological studies. These constructs contain dual tags, both a fluorescent and epitope tags, to maximize the utility of the resulting marker plant lines. The results of this project to develop community resources in Medicago truncatula will be presented here.
