SNP genotyping is, and will remain, a very important tool for molecular breeding. For many purposes, such association studies, LD & QTL mapping studies, marker-assisted backcrosses and validation of large numbers of novel SNPs, multiplexing systems are highly opportune. Although fixed-content multiplexing systems are fairly cost-efficient, most of the currently available assay types have limited flexibility and scalability, such as fixed ordering volume and/or fixed number of SNPs of which only a subset is informative in a given germplasm. In addition, these systems often have relatively long production cycles. Hence, projects involving custom-made fixed content SNP assays typically last at least several months.
KeyGene® SNP Select Technology builds upon the proven multiplexing capabilities of the Oligonucleotide Ligation Assay combined with High Throughput sequencing, and allows genotyping any number of SNPs in any number of samples with a fast turn-around time. Furthermore, each subsequent experiment allows changing the content by adding or removing probe sets of individual SNPs.
The KeyGene® SNP Select technology is patented by patents and patent applications owned by Keygene N.V.
