Overview of the International Goat Genome Consortium (IGGC) Projects
Date: Sunday, January 12, 2014
Time: 8:00 AM
Time: 8:00 AM
Room: San Diego
The goat is an important agricultural species that is highly adaptable and bred in virtually all parts of the world. A better understanding of the goat genome could lead to new discoveries based on the genetic diversity and environmental adaptations important to ruminant health and production. An international collaboration the International Goat Genome Consortium (IGGC; www.goat.genome.org) has led to the development of several projects aiming at the improvement of knowledge of goat genome. An update of the current IGGC project activities for the goat genome sequencing, improved genome assembly, characterization of African goat populations, African Goat Improvement Network (AGIN), and the AdaptMap projects will be presented.
