Intra-specific genetic variation analysis among the 30 genotypes of V. umbellata collected from Northeast Indian using cumulative DNA marker (Single Primer Amplification Reactions) approach, which is gaining prominence as an effective tool for genetic diversity studies in plants were carried out. Two major clusters were formed using UPGMA method of clustering. Cluster I could be sub- divided into three sub-clusters i.e. sub-cluster IA, IB and IC. Cluster II revealed the presence of most divergent genotypes among the collection which has a tendency to smudge as an out group by forming a different and unique cluster, which deserve special attention. The clustering pattern found in cluster I revealed the lack of heterozygosity at DNA level in all the accessions. Such novel variation at  may be considered as an effort by the genome to adapt to specific environmental conditions in which it grows and propagate. However, clustering pattern presently analyze did not clearly show any geographical isolation and/or ecological differentiations among any of the accessions. Hence, such observations may reflect that geographical differentiation of V. umbellata in Northeast India did not influence genetic composition of the genotype
