Plant breeding consists of the screening and recombination of chosen germplasm, and the subsequent selection of desirable genotypic combinations for further advancement. Meiotic recombination is at the core of the process, yet imposes many limitations on the progress that can be made.  Can some of these limitations be overcome by understanding & possibly modulating aspects of the meiotic process?
