Since 2007, genotyping studies using next generation DNA sequencing platforms have accelerated genomics research in a wide range of plant and animal species. Here we present three representative examples of genetic marker discovery and genotyping efforts using restriction enzyme based genome complexity methods. Critical aspects of each project including overall design, sequencing considerations, bioinformatic analysis and scientific outcomes will be discussed.
