2705SGN Workshop: Solanaceae Genomes and Breeder Tools.
SGN (http://solgenomics.net) is a repository for whole genome sequences, genotype, genetic map, expression, and phenotype data. It integrates and cross-references diverse data to allow knowledge discovery. Crops with rich datasets on SGN include tomato, pepper, tobacco, coffee, petunia.
SGN provides access to data using annotation, analysis and visualization tools such as for annotating loci, QTL and genomic selection analyses, designing Virus-Induced Gene Silencing (VIGS) constructs, and browsing genomes using JBrowse and GBrowse.
The SGN code and database structure is reproducible for any crop; for example, currently it is implemented for cassava on cassavabase.org. Biologists, breeders, and bioinformaticians interested in utilizing the data and tools on our databases, and exchanging experiences, ideas and co-developing tools will benefit from attending this workshop.
