With accurate and cost-effective de novo assembly of even the most complex genomes now within reach, the next big challenge is that of genomic diversity.

Revealing the genomic diversity in plants and animals yields serious benefits in research and breeding. This talk will describe successful assembly results of DenovoMAGIC 2, NRGene’s de novo genome assembly tool, applied to the genomes of several different wheat and maize genomes.

By effectively applying NRGene's GenoMAGIC big data analytical platform to these assemblies, multiple temperate maize genomes are compared and a pan-genome database is established. This database efficiently captures and annotates the diversity within the temperate maize lines examined. The value of these tools and analyses will be demonstrated with maize used as a test case.
