3741Non-coding RNA
This workshop focuses on the discovery of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) (long and short) within plants and animals. This is a highly relevant area of genomics since the actual number of RNA genes in different organisms is unknown alongside they specific function. Also since there is a growing number of functional and trait related single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) lying outside the coding sequence, these genes are of medical and agricultural relevance. In the workshop topics range from annotation and in silico discovery in genome, a transcriptomic data analysis to identify new genes using a variety of methodologies, alongside strategies to address functional and structural aspects of ncRNA identification including long non-coding RNAs.
