Recently, colony collapse disorder (CCD) of honeybees is a worldwide phenomenon and causes significant economic losses. Although Sacbrood virus (SBV) has been pointed out as the main cause of CCD in Korean honeybees (Apis cerana), an effective method for prevention and treatment of the disease has not been developed yet. In this study, we performed transcriptome profiling of Apis ceranaand analyzed the genes expressed during SBV infection. Using our approach to identify candidate genes associated with symptoms of SBV infection, we investigated the pathogenic mechanism of SBV disease. On the basis of our results, we expect to provide significant clues for prevention and treatment of SBV disease.
