Genome Annotation with Galaxy

Galaxy is a data integration and analysis platform for life science research (http://galaxyproject.org) that is used by thousands of scientists across the world. This workshop briefly introduces the Galaxy platform and then walks through a multi-step genome annotation exercise. In this exercise, we will perform homology, RNA-seq, and gene predictions analyses to create a genome browser suitable for consensus genome annotation. We will take advantage of Galaxy's rich tool set and visualization capabilities to do this.

The workshop will also provide a brief overview of the Galaxy Project, and several ways in which the Galaxy platform is available to researchers.

Galaxy is an open-source, web-based platform, and there are over 80 publicly accessible servers around the world. Galaxy can also be installed locally, or on the cloud.

Galaxy enables bench scientists to create and experiment with sophisticated and reproducible data analysis. If you are new to high-throughput sequencing data analysis, or if you are trying to find a better way to manage and perform your analyses, then this workshop will be of interest to you.
