Session: Space, Place, and Geography (Society for Social Work and Research 31st Annual Conference)

We hosted our first Space, Place, and Geography meeting SSWR 2026, and we had an excellent turn out for the first session. We heard feedback from attendees that they often feel isolated within social work due to their interests in geography and that this SIG was an important resource to develop scholarly relationships to further the use of geographic frameworks in social work. Activities include access to the listserv to share resources and collaborate on future geographic social work research and a directory of people’s interests (via Google Drive). Quarterly meetings will be leveraged for people to present work, receive feedback, engage with methods, etc.
