Mind-body practices are rising rapidly in popularity and application in mainstream society, with increasing recognition across multiple fields as a framework for individual and societal transformation. Despite its growth, efforts to integrate mind-body components in Social Work research and practice have been largely disjointed. This SIG aims to address this gap by offering an organizing hub for social work scholars to shape what mind-body research in Social Work can look like. Representation of mind-body interest groups have been minimal in previous years at SSWR, and this SIG would help grow the types of relevant and needed SIG offerings. Finally, the convener of this SIG is an Assistant Professor in Social Work at Colorado State University, as well as experienced mind-body practitioner and scholar, having received a grant from the Mind & Life Institute. She is well-connected to other mind-body scholars in the field of social work and has the capacity and passion to start this SIG.
