The deadline to submit a session, town hall, or pre-conference workshop proposal for AGU25 has passed. Please search for and review proposed sessions below. Please note this site is frozen as of 4/29/25 and will not reflect any changes to proposals made after this date.

Conveners will be contacted by the AGU25 Program Committee with any requests for mergers or edits to proposals. Conveners will be notified of the acceptance of their proposal in mid-June.

Abstract submissions will also open in mid-June and the deadline for abstract submissions is 30 July, 2025.

Session Proposal: Galactic Cosmic Ray Transport in the Heliosphere: From the Interstellar Medium to the Solar Atmosphere (AGU25)

Galactic Cosmic Ray Transport in the Heliosphere: From the Interstellar Medium to the Solar Atmosphere

Session ID#: 248972

Session Description:
The propagation of MeV-TeV galactic cosmic rays (GCR) from the outer heliosphere down to solar atmosphere is being probed with unprecedented accuracy by in-situ observatories (Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, Voyagers) and by space-/ground-based missions (Fermi-LAT, AMS-02, CALET, HAWC, LHAASO, Tibet Air Shower Array, neutron monitors). The closest approaches to the Sun by PSP and secondary cosmic rays (muons, neutrons) measurement on Earth will yield new insights into the solar modulation within 1 AU throughout the solar cycle. The puzzling GeV-TeV gamma-ray emission of the quiescent solar disk has spurred models of GCRs transport in magnetic canopy and open flux regions; high spatial resolution observations (DKIST) and simulations have been investigating turbulence properties in the solar atmosphere. We welcome both theoretical and data analysis abstracts to unveil the connection between (1) ACR/GCR propagation through the heliosphere, (2) interaction of GCR with the dense solar atmosphere or corona and observational signature.
