Session Proposal: Observing and Modeling of Earth Surface Cryogenic Processes and the State of Permafrost (AGU25)

C030
Observing and Modeling of Earth Surface Cryogenic Processes and the State of Permafrost

Session ID#: 249044

Session Description:
This session is focused on advances in observations and modeling techniques of phase change processes in the active layer and permafrost. We invite both modelers and observers to share their ideas and collectively advance understanding of cryogenic processes in natural and urbanized settings. We look forward to hearing about new contributions to the Thermal State of Permafrost project, Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring program and advances in the citizen science initiatives. We also solicit contributions related to incorporation of in-situ, laboratory, and remote sensing observations to improve understanding of the state and fate of permafrost. We especially welcome abstracts focused on up-scaling collected observations across the landscape and down-scaling regional modeling products. Abstracts on benchmarking models are also invited.
