High-resolution Imaging and Monitoring in Environmental, Urban, and Energy Contexts through Seismic, Remote Sensing, and Electromagnetic Methods
Session ID#: 249408
Session Description:
Advances in high-resolution imaging and time-lapse geophysical monitoring are revolutionizing our ability to investigate near-surface processes in environmental, urban, and energy contexts. Seismic and electromagnetic methods—both passive and active—are being used to detect hidden faults, characterize subsurface structures, monitor groundwater dynamics, track surface movements, and assess infrastructure responses to natural hazards. Similarly, remote sensing satellite missions are enabling detailed measurements of water levels, soil moisture, and ground deformation. Innovations in instrumentation, computational techniques, and data processing have made analyzing complex, large-scale datasets more feasible. This session invites contributions that integrate complementary datasets, such as seismic nodal arrays, DAS, GPR, airborne EM, InSAR, LiDAR, GPS, and geochemical observations, to provide multi-modal insights into subsurface processes. We encourage work that promotes cross-disciplinary innovation and demonstrates how integrated geophysical monitoring can enhance sustainability and resilience. We especially encourage work that fosters cross-disciplinary applications demonstrating the potential of integrated geophysical monitoring to support sustainability.
