GC055
Geological, industrial and economic dynamics of the cycles of natural resources
Session ID#: 250065
Session Description:
The cycles of mineral resources and other commodities (fossil fuels, water, wood) are complex natural and anthropogenic systems that depend on the intersection of geological phenomena, industrial processes, supply chains, social science and economics at various temporal and spatial scales. A multidisciplinary approach is therefore needed to understand and model the stocks and flows of mineral resources in space and time and to advance data collection methods, such as remote sensing. This session aims to gather researchers studying the natural and anthropogenic cycles of metals and minerals from the point of view of different disciplines, namely the Earth sciences, industrial ecology (material flow analysis), operations research and economics. Submissions on mining and commodity finance, recycling, commodity prices and energy are also welcome.
