From Experimentation to Scaling Up Disruptive Innovation in Subnational Organizations
From Experimentation to Scaling Up Disruptive Innovation in Subnational Organizations
Session ID#: 251250
Session Description:
Subnational entities (state agencies, provincial ministries, county/local governments) can serve as critical laboratories for public sector innovation as they navigate rapid environmental, technological, and social change. There is much to be learned from how subnational entities grapple with the rapid rise of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, to the proliferation of new knowledge, models, and tools, to in/out migration shifts, and to more extreme and variable environments among other challenges. We welcome interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholars and teams exploring how subnational entities navigate complex regional governance challenges—from climate adaptation and water resource management to infrastructure resilience and social fairness to managing disruptive technologies. We seek to learn about how subnational entities navigate these rapid changes, uncover novel solutions and learn from them, and explore how to scale up more effective and accessible public sector innovation.
