Extreme Events: Observations and Modeling

Session Description:
This session invites abstracts on observational and numerical modeling studies of extreme events such as flash floods, droughts, heat waves, cold waves, strong winds, tropical cyclones, etc. to enhance the understanding of their spatiotemporal characteristics and predictability. In particular, the abstracts are encouraged on exploring the extreme events related hazards, which would assist the policy makers to build potentially more resilient societies. This session also welcomes presentations on model simulation and assessment of extreme events to build a confidence in modeling capabilities for future projections.
