Advancements in Watershed Modeling to Support Water Management

Session Description:
Continued and evolving advancements in watershed modeling are needed to address concerns related to water availability by providing accurate and timely information to scientists, managers, and policy makers aiming to understand and secure water for human and ecosystem use. This session seeks interdisciplinary discussion of innovative modeling developments and their applications to solve water-management-related problems across a range of environmental, societal, spatial, and temporal settings. We invite contributions focused on innovations in the development, improvement, or application of hydrologic or water-quality models to support water management and communication (e.g., representation of water demand/consumption, incorporation of lag times and processes, assessing the impacts of climate and land use changes). This session welcomes research using a wide range of modeling methods, including statistical, process-based, machine-learning, and hybrid approaches, provided that the work explicitly connects modeling results to management decisions, policy development, or stakeholder communication, with clear relevance to real-world water-management challenges.
