A large number of extreme events, heavy rains, floods, cyclones took place across the globe. The catastrophic floods in regions, the heatwaves spreading around the continents in past years are witnessing increasing extreme weather. The global Covid-19 pandemic, our global societies are facing multiple challenges, which require mitigation and adaptation strategies in scientific understanding of extreme events. This session invites case studies on lessons learned from the extreme weather events. The session includes monitoring and predictions of extreme weather events to avoid long-term impacts in the post-disaster period. The session aims at discussing and sharing the lessons learned from the extreme weather events in different parts of the world to build the resilient societies for social and economic rehabilitation of affected populations. The session also focuses on the application of innovative technologies for early prediction and early warning systems for increasing risk resilience for extreme weather events and societal participation.
