Innovations in Water Resources Planning and Management: Trends in Science, Practice, and Policy

Session Description:
Population growth, land use change, and climate variability are rapidly reshaping water resources planning. This session convenes interdisciplinary perspectives on data-informed and stakeholder-informed approaches to advancing water resources planning and management. Topics of interest include monitoring such as in-situ observation or remote sensing, modelling such as process-based and/or machine learning models, and participatory engagement with stakeholders to improve prediction, allocation, planning, and resilience of water systems across scales. We encourage presentations highlighting successful approaches to stakeholder engagement and participatory modeling in water management decision-making processes. Practice-oriented case studies demonstrating implementation of decision-support tools are especially encouraged. By bridging advances in science, technology, and practice, this session aims to foster dialogue among researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to accelerate the development of innovative and actionable solutions for water resources planning under changing conditions.
