Dayside Magnetosphere Interactions

Session Description:
The dayside magnetosphere plays a crucial role in coupling the energy and mass from the solar wind to Earth’s Geospace environment. This session invites studies spanning a wide range of regions, physics, and interactions, involving both kinetic and fluid processes in the bow shock and foreshock, magnetosheath, magnetopause, cusp, inner magnetosphere, and ionosphere. Areas of investigation may include fundamental physical processes governing dayside interactions, including waves, turbulence, magnetic reconnection, particle kinetics, and transient structures.

Cross-region and cross-scale investigations that reveal how energy is transferred from upstream to downstream regions, and across macro-, meso-, and microscales, are particularly encouraged. We also welcome studies leveraging multi-point coordinated observations and advanced numerical simulations. This session aims to foster communication and collaboration across observational, theoretical, and modeling efforts, including emerging data-driven and machine learning approaches, and to advance understanding of the multi-scale physical processes through which solar wind conditions regulate Geospace dynamics.
