Advancing in remote sensing data to study geological phenomena

Session Description:
The study of geological phenomena from remote sensing data (satellites, airborne and UAVs sensors) is entering a golden age due to the significant increase in their data volume. This session focuses on the use of non-commercial and commercial multispectral, hyperspectral and SAR data at different spatial-temporal resolution for geological applications, such as (but not limited to) ore geology (critical minerals, oil exploration, geotherm etc.), natural hazards (volcanoes, landslide, fires, glaciers, UHI etc.), land cover mapping and related spectral indices (e.g., NDVI, NDSI, NDBI), biomass, and soil moisture.

We welcome contributions that:

  • Use and/or combine remote sensing data (VSWIR-TIR, SAR) from different satellites and sensor (Sentinel, Landsat, ASTER, MODIS, VIIRS, NISAR, Hydrosat, SatVu, ALOS, Cosmo Sky-Med, Maxar, Planet, Capella, Umbra, ICEYE, etc.).
  • Derive methods for data fusion, processing, and modelling including regression and classification (AI algorithms, clouds platforms etc.).
  • Describe calibration and validation of remote sensing data using ground truth
