This session examines agricultural decision-making under environmental uncertainty, with a focus on adaptive behavior, decision processes, and policy design. It explores how farmers, institutions, and markets interpret and respond to variability, extreme events, and resource constraints, shaping production choices, investment behavior, and risk management strategies. Attention centers on the structural and behavioral determinants of choice under uncertainty across diverse economic, institutional, and informational contexts. The session welcomes empirical, modeling, and applied studies that evaluate decision frameworks, quantify risk–return tradeoffs, and assess the effectiveness of policy instruments and decision-support systems. Emphasis is placed on integrative approaches that link biophysical conditions with economic decision processes to explain how adaptive strategies emerge and evolve over time. By bridging agricultural economics, Earth system science, and policy analysis, this session advances understanding of decision processes and their implications for agricultural resilience, efficiency, and long-term viability under increasing environmental uncertainty.
