Science can play a vital role in democratic societies, informing more effective and equitable public policies on a range of topics (e.g., pandemic preparedness, climate resilience, emerging technologies). Researchers need to provide relevant, credible, and timely advice to policymakers seeking objective assessments to inform equitable decisions and actions (e.g., who benefits, who bears risk, who decides, what are the priorities). We want to highlight research and case studies—interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary—illustrating pathways for science to inform policy, whether at the local, national, or international level.

We seek submissions from those studying the interface between science and policy and those engaged in practice, including scientists, policy makers, Indigenous and community leaders, and issue advocates. Abstracts may either (1) focus broadly on the use of science in public policy processes or (2) address specific topics such as climate solutions, resource management, natural hazards, public health, space policy, energy resources, and more.
