Session Description:
NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program acquires and evaluates commercial Earth observation data to complement NASA’s science missions and applications. The NASA Disaster Program provides satellite data, maps, and analysis to emergency managers during major events, coordinating with federal, state, and international partners to deliver actionable information when it is most needed. Working together, the CSDA and Disaster programs ensure NASA can quickly deliver both government and commercial satellite data to support situational awareness during hurricanes, wildfires, floods, landslides, and other rapidly evolving hazards. By integrating commercial data into disaster response workflows, the programs provide a more comprehensive and flexible information stream for decision‑makers. This session will explore how this partnership is applied during real events and identify opportunities to improve data access, interoperability, and scientific rigor, strengthening community understanding of how commercial satellite data enhances NASA’s disaster response capabilities.
