Climate services—scientifically-based, usable information that supports climate-informed decisions—are increasingly critical as climate impacts intensify across communities, ecosystems, and economic sectors. Momentum has been building behind a vision for a more coordinated, user-centered, and equitable climate services enterprise amidst rapid change, while recognizing the scale, diversity, and urgency of demand exceed what existing systems alone can deliver.

This Union session convenes non-governmental leaders to explore the future of climate services with a particular focus on the expanding leadership role of universities, NGOs, philanthropies, community-based organizations, boundary organizations, and the private sector. These organizations are increasingly central to translating federal climate data into actionable insights, coproducing knowledge with users, and delivering decision support tailored to local and sector-specific needs. This session will identify pathways for sustaining and strengthening climate services that support informed decisions, climate resilience, and just outcomes in a rapidly evolving policy and governance environment.
