Water and Society: Innovations in Transboundary Water Resources Management

Session Description:
This session provides a platform to discuss innovative approaches to navigating challenges in transboundary water resources management. Global conflicts and “black swan” events have highlighted vulnerabilities in shared water systems, as well as in teleconnected production and trade networks that propagate impacts far beyond conflict zones, affecting food and energy security outside the basins themselves. Example topics of interest include technological advances, impact assessment frameworks, science diplomacy initiatives, and coalitions of states, NGOs, researchers, and others aimed at better coordinating the management of shared waters, enhancing cooperation, and building resilience in the context of conflicts with implications for water, food, and energy security. Submissions are encouraged in diverse areas related to conflict and cooperation in transboundary river basins, the sustainability and management of water resources that cross international borders, global impact propagation linked to such conflicts, and scientific networks that facilitate collaboration to address research needs in these basins.
