Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Planetary Interiors: From Earth to Exoplanets

Session Description:
The solar system reveals a diversity of planets with different interior, surface and tectonic states and evolutionary pathways. Moreover, the thousands of exoplanets discovered so far point to even wider diversity in planetary interiors and evolution. There is strong synergy between studying Earth’s and other planetary interiors. Studying other planets helps place the Earth in a broader context, while studying Earth’s interior provides lessons that inform other solar system and extrasolar planets and moons. This session focuses on the synergy between studies of Earth’s and planetary interiors exploring planetary structures, dynamics, and evolution from observational, laboratory experimental, or theoretical perspectives. Topics include (but are not limited to) geodynamic modeling, high pressure experiments, seismic observations, or exoplanetary observations. Submissions considering planetary bodies from the Earth, to solar system planets and satellites, to exoplanets (including super-Earths and sub-Neptunes) are welcome.
