Advances In Food Security And Climate Resilience In High-Income Settings: Integrating Environmental, Climate, And Socioeconomic Data For Decision-Making

Food insecurity remains a complex and persistent challenge shaped by environmental conditions, agricultural systems, and socioeconomic realities. While often associated with lower-income regions, food insecurity is also present in high-income countries such as the United States and Canada, where climate variability, access, and inequality continue to affect vulnerable populations. This session focuses on recent advances in understanding and addressing food insecurity in these contexts.
We invite contributions that integrate environmental and climate data—including remote sensing, field observations, and modeling—with social and economic information to support decision-making. Topics may include agricultural production, water availability, drought and flood impacts, access to food, and the development of indicators that reflect both environmental exposure and coping capacity. Contributions related to risk assessment, agricultural insurance, and pricing approaches that support resilience are also encouraged. Studies that inform practical decisions at farm, community, or policy levels are especially welcome.
