Seismoacoustics: Sources, Propagation, and Emerging Methods

Session Description:
This session highlights recent advances in understanding acoustic wavefields generated by natural and anthropogenic sources. Seismic and acoustic waves couple across the Earth-atmosphere interface, encoding information about source processes, propagation environments, and atmospheric structure. We invite contributions spanning the breadth of seismoacoustic research, including: (1) explosion monitoring and event discrimination for national security and treaty verification; (2) natural and anthropogenic source characterization including volcanology; and (3) global monitoring of extraterrestrial impacts. We also welcome contributions exploring (a) novel instrumentation development and deployment strategies; (b) numerical and theoretical modeling of wave propagation and coupling; (c) signal processing, array methods, and data fusion; (d) acoustic-gravity waves and interactions with atmospheric dynamics; and (e) AI/ML approaches for any of the aforementioned topics. We particularly welcome studies that bridge observation and modeling, leverage emerging data streams, or advance seismoacoustic monitoring at local, regional, or global scales.
