Fusing Science and Security: Building Collaboration in the Geosciences for National Security and Public Safety Applications

Session Description:
The increasing frequency and complexity of threats to national security, public safety, and community resilience demand an integrated approach between the scientific and operational communities. From leveraging remote sensing for real-time disaster intelligence to topics such as water scarcity, the potential for earth and space science to enhance planning and response is immense. However, bridging the gap between scientific innovation and practical application remains a challenge.

This session seeks to unite AGU scientists, government data providers, and operational end-users from national security and public safety agencies. We aim to address challenges of integrating research into practice. We invite abstracts that showcase current and emerging applications supporting decision-making; explore challenges and opportunities; and discuss frameworks necessary to integrate science into operational workflows. 

The goal is to move beyond theoretical potential and build a community of practice dedicated to developing and sharing actionable scientific applications for a safer and more secure world.
