Resilience, Vulnerability, and Restoration of Watersheds

Session Description:
Watersheds around the world are increasingly threatened by global change such as land use change, climate change and invasive species with consequences for nature and humans. We invite contributions in watershed science that provide insight into the impacts of global change on watersheds including resilience and vulnerability of water cycle, carbon cycle, and related ecosystem services across scales. Of particular interest are contributions involving conceptual and regional analysis of nature-based solutions from physical, economic, and social lenses. We welcome studies that use ground and areal observations and/or traditional and emerging models.

Examples could include but are not limited to: i) hydrology in a changing climate and its impact on biodiversity and people, ii) adaptation to or mitigation of climate change on water-yield and quality, carbon storage, and other ecosystem services, iii) decision-frameworks that impact watershed management, (iii) convergence research integrating social-ecological systems to inform equitable policies, practices, outcomes and evaluation.
