Earthquake Hazard and Risk Across Diverse Tectonic Regions: Integrating Seismology and Engineering, Bridging Well-Instrumented and Emerging-Data Regions

Session Description:
Understanding earthquake hazard across tectonically diverse regions requires integrating seismology, physics-based ground motion modeling, and engineering applications. This session brings together studies from a range of tectonic settings, including transform, subduction, and continental collision environments, to explore similarities and contrasts in seismicity, ground motion characteristics, and hazard implications. We invite contributions on earthquake source processes, swarm and aftershock behavior, ground motion models, site response, basin effects, and attenuation across regions. Emphasis is placed on linking seismological observations to engineering-relevant outcomes, including infrastructure performance, loss estimation, and risk governance. We also welcome studies leveraging emerging data sources such as dense seismic networks, and macroseismic intensity data, as well as contributions addressing multi-hazard interactions, including earthquake-induced landslides and liquefaction. By combining insights from well-instrumented regions with rapidly evolving datasets from historically data-sparse regions, this session aims to advance transferable frameworks for robust seismic hazard and risk assessment.
