Science aims to understand the natural world through evidence and functions best when practiced by a diverse community. As human activities increasingly impact the world around us, this variety of perspectives becomes even more important. Science needs people with different cultures, knowledge systems, and lived experiences, particularly from Indigenous communities, to improve research approaches, account for all forms of evidence, and ensure goals and outcomes benefit all stakeholders in questions of both local and global significance. In this session, we invite submissions highlighting novel practices, approaches, and place-based examples of science teaching and learning that is equitable, inclusive, and relevant to a range of communities, with dual foci on Indigenous communities and the nature and process of science. With an overarching goal of sharing ways to improve scientific thinking, inspire curiosity, and empower individuals to participate in science, we encourage researchers and collaborative groups across the geosciences to share perspectives
