NISAR One Year After the Start of its Science Phase: Delivering Global Data for the Earth Science Research and Applications Community

Session Description:
The NASA-ISRO SAR Mission (NISAR) launched on July 30, 2025 and has been delivering unprecedented measurements of surface deformation and land cover change according to a systematic, science-driven observation plan.  This session will showcase the science of NISAR across each of its major science discipline areas of solid Earth, ecosystems, and cryosphere, as well as the broad set of applications reliable, systematic synthetic aperture radar observations can support.  The session is intended to prime the research community for feedback on the impact these data are having on their ability to understand Earth’s dynamics.  The audience includes the science and applications communities served by SAR and repeat-pass InSAR data, which is a broad category including Solid Earth, Cryosphere, Hydrology, and Ecosystems science as well as applications areas such as geohazards, risk analysis, agriculture, and forestry.
