NISAR for Ecosystems: A new frontier and early results

Session Description:
Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India on July 30, 2025, the NISAR mission has begun delivering a consistent time series of dual-frequency SAR data to the community. Marked by a twelve-day repeat cycle and collecting L-band data over all land surfaces in both ascending and descending orbits, the time-series radiometry and interferometric data is ideal for the state of and change in habitats, water cycle, forest and plant vegetation.
In this session, results that showcase the utility of NISAR for studying ecosystems will be presented. Presenters are encouraged to combine data with other remote sensing sources (e.g. the GEDI, BIOMASS and Sentinel-1, -2 missions) and to connect observations to existing and new ground validation campaigns.
