Navigating Transboundary Waters: Challenges, Cooperation, and Multidisciplinary Solutions

Session Description:
Transboundary river basins are frequently characterized by competing interests between riparian states and conflicting demands across various economic sectors. These challenges are compounded by infrastructure development and diplomatic complexities in the pursuit of cooperative frameworks. We invite presentations that enhance our understanding of transboundary water management hurdles and the multifaceted solutions required to address them. Given the multidisciplinary scope of this initiative, we welcome proposals from fields such as hydrology, economics, agriculture, energy, and environmental science. Key research questions include: How do politics and governance influence basin-wide cooperation? What collaborative strategies can help nations achieve the United Nations sustainability targets? How are data and decision-support tools integrated into water resource planning and operations? What technological or policy solutions can effectively resolve emerging water management issues?
