OS013
Fluid migration and gas hydrate systems in continental margins
Session ID#: 72759
Session Description:
Migration of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon affects through marine sediments
affects continental margin in many ways Studying the abundance, distribution,
and drivers for fluid migration is crucial for understanding their role in
submarine slope stability, gas hydrate dynamics, the global carbon cycle, and
climate change. In addition fluid migration is of significant economic importance
as it controls the distribution of hydrocarbon resources.
This session aims to bring together geoscientists addressing the dynamics
of natural gas seepage and focused fluid flow at different spatial and temporal
scales and with different methods. We invite contributions from geophysicists,
geochemists, modelers, as well as structural and petroleum geologists
presenting field and laboratory results. We also encourage submissions on
modelling of fluid flow phenomena including the deep hydrocarbon systems.
