Sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence as a proxy of photosynthesis: measurements, modeling, and applications from field, airborne, and satellite platforms

Session ID#: 75824

Session Description:
Advances have been made recently in the retrieval of sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) from ground, airborne, and satellite platforms. With the launched TROPOMI, OCO-3, TanSat, GOSAT2, and new instruments (TEMPO, Sentinel-4, FLEX, and GEOCarb) in the near future, higher spatial and temporal SIF products will further advance SIF-related research in earth system science and global environmental changes.
This session focuses on measurements, modeling, and applications of SIF in earth system sciences at a range of temporal and spatial scales. We encourage contributions that discuss advances in observing and monitoring technologies of SIF from field, airborne, and satellite platforms. We welcome studies that use SIF to understand the spatio-temporal variability of vegetation photosynthesis and related plant physiological responses to environmental stresses across different ecosystem types. Finally, we are interested in studies of using SIF for societal applications, such as agricultural monitoring for food security and forest monitoring.
