You Have Your Degree, Now What? - A Discussion on Global Licensure and Certification in the Geosciences
Session ID#: 77358
Session Description:
In many parts of the world, geoscientists working in their profession must be licensed or certified to comply with requirements intended to ensure public safety and welfare. Competency to practice is determined by each jurisdiction or organization through criteria including education, verified experience, and in some cases standard examinations. Where licensure requirements are absent, geoscientists may need to meet certification credentials as a measure of professional standing. This session will provide crucial information on licensure and certification for students and early career professionals as well as faculty who are preparing the next generation of global geologists.
