Agriculture on the Edge: Food and Feed Production in Drylands.
Session ID#: 78617
Session Description:
Drylands comprise approximately 40% of the Earth's terrestrial surface and are home to more than two billion people. Agriculture in these regions is subject to harsh environmental conditions such as drought, high water salinity, and temperature extremes that reduce crop productivity and present challenges for farmers. We invite studies on the ecophysiology, biogeochemistry, and sustainability of agricultural production in high-temperature agricultural ecosystems. This includes row crop and intensive, high-input–high-yield agriculture. We are interesting in understanding the current state of knowledge on food and feed production and facilitate research enhancing sustainable crop productivity in arid and semi-arid regions. We welcome empirical and modeling studies and research on different spatial and temporal scales
