Cooperative Research Strategies for Ocean Observatories Infrastructures to support the United Nations Decade of Oceanic Science for Sustainable Development
Session ID#: 79358
Session Description:
This session will bring together organizations operating cabled and other fixed ocean observatory infrastructures to exchange and coordinate observing strategies that contribute to the goals of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Throughout the Decade these observing systems will be collecting high-resolution, in situ ocean times series data, in support of basic research, operational oceanography, and maritime safety and security. This session will focus on observing strategies and innovative technologies and programs that advance the goals of the Decade, from the networking of individual observatories for monitoring regional and basin-scale phenomena from the coast to the deep-sea floor. Community-based ocean observing programs and infrastructures will also be featured. Invited talks will include leaders and infrastructure operators, early career scientists and societal end-users of ocean observations.
