ED021
Curating the creative: Science, art, and public engagement

Session ID#: 80321

Session Description:
When it comes to sharing science with broader audiences, data rarely speak for themselves. With complex methodologies and hypotheses, the necessary details of conveying scientific findings can muddy the message. Art, on the other hand, can be used to explain scientific concepts in an engaging way, drawing in broader audiences through the ability to look at science from new perspectives. When scientists and artists come together they can create works that speak to people’s heart, pique their imaginations, and open minds to learning about scientific concepts. In this session we will highlight examples of art and science collaborations in a variety of forms. We invite contributions from those involved in all aspects of the process and are particularly interested in stories of process, collaboration, success, and failure.
